    Somewhat racist isn't it?

Funnier is the US congressman today apologised for saying "Any person with a towel around his head and a rubber trye ring around his head should be pulled over by the cops and check".

After apologizing, he said that "We couldn't do our war on terrorism if people are going to stop us every 5 minutes to make sure we are politically correct".

I believe the poster in the forum does state in the topic title that it isn't a politically correct thread. As such, I don't believe his intention was at all racist- there is such a thing as "friendly trash-talking"- and this was simply poking fun at a Texas cow-rancher who happens to be president- and what he might say had he never left that cow ranch. More worrying is the third post of that thread- have a closer look at that weather report

I still think this was funny... what f'ing moron of a congressman =)
This is a partial transcript from The O'Reilly Factor, September 19, 2001.

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: Hi. I'm Bill O'Reilly ... Now for the top story
tonight. Some controversy in Congress over the terrorism. Two congresspeople
    under scrutiny.

Case No. 1, Speaking to a network of Louisiana radio stations, Republican Congressman John Cooksey of that state said this about racial profiling in the wake of the terrorist attack. "If I see someone who comes in that's got a diaper on his head and a fan belt wrapped around the diaper on his head, that guy needs to be pulled over." Wow.

Joining us now from Washington is Congressman Cooksey. Congressman.

REP. JOHN COOKSEY (R), LOUISIANA: Well, Bill, I...

O'REILLY: A diaper on the head?

COOKSEY: Well, let me say this, Bill. That in — that remark was intended for bin Laden, and I said it in a — in a moment of anger, and I feel anger, and I feel that all the American people should feel anger toward bin Laden.

I did not mean that toward any Americans, native born or naturalized Americans, who happen to be of Arabic ancestry. You know, they are Americans. They're not just Arab-Americans. They're Americans like me, and they're — and they deserve all the independence and the civil liberties that everyone has.

O'REILLY: But weren't you insulting to them, Congressman? You want to apologize for that remark?

COOKSEY: You know, I probably could have used some better words, but I was trying to insult bin Laden. I — if there's anyone that needs to be demonized, it's bin Laden. Bin Laden is a bad guy. Bin Laden and his troops, his terrorists, took 5,000 American lives, and I want...

O'REILLY: No, we all know that. I know that, but — but, look, I mean, you're talking about racial profiling, and you're saying, look, that anybody with a turban — and, you know, there are probably a million Americans that wear turbans — or any kind of Middle-Eastern garb should — when they walk in, they should be pulled over? Come on, Congressman. That's not right.

COOKSEY: Well, let me just tell you this, Bill. The message is that, in this particular case, a hundred percent of the people that — that did this act, the 19 people, were male, they were Middle-Eastern ancestry, and they were terrorists. They're people that have — that have hijacked Islam, which is a good religion, a good faith, and does not preach what these people are doing.

But those people — if someone comes through that profile, I think they really need to be scrutinized carefully because, if we have another tragedy like the one that occurred on September the 11th because we're worried about being politically correct — I just don't think it's worth losing 5,000 American lives.

O'REILLY: All right. I got your point, and I think most Americans would agree that if there is a person who is coming into a situation where security is involved and that person is of Middle-Eastern descent, that they're going to get scrutinized, and I don't think anybody at this juncture would object that.

The problem that I have with what you said is that there's a guy in Arizona who's dead right now because some nut shot him. He was an American of Middle-Eastern descent. Another family got fired on. A couple of mosques have been — been vandalized. People have been beat up.

And a respected legislator as — like yourself saying those kinds of things can be used by people in — unstable people to do violent acts. They can say, "Listen, Congressman Cooksey — look what he said. Turban on the head. Diaper on the head. Why should I treat these people with respect if a U.S. congressman isn't?"

COOKSEY: Well, I can assure you that I regret the choice of words if it offended any American of Arabic ancestry, but I have no apology to bin Laden, and I don't think most of the American people do.

I think it's — I think that there are a lot of wonderful people of Arabic ancestry that are friends of mine. I've had a great relationship with people that are — that were — that live in the Middle East, that come to this country, that are naturalized as citizens, but I don't have a great relationship with bin Laden.

    From that web page:

Ask your buddy Saddam about ****ing with the good 'ole USA.

Er... Saddam pretty much got away with it. Being about 50 miles at most from Baghdah, the US should have taken him out when they could ... but they didn't - most likely because it wasn't really in their interests, politically.
Trust us, Afghanistan will end up a giant kitty litter box.

    Isn't it already?

The USA is hungry for revenge, but killing a bunch of Afghans and bombing a country full of wasteland is hardly going to be enough.
