As my name suggests this obviously is a problem to me. Why once again is Ireland left behind.... first the Sky Gnome ,now this. Why are the Ireland bulletins not in authentic w/s!!!:D

I could have sworn it was in widescreen. I'll have to have a look again tonight.

Maybe you should change your username to "System set up wrong"... Sky News IRL WS available on both my dodgybox, and Topfield D-Sat receiver.....

    ;)

Check that both TV and Sky box set to 16:9, or TV set to Auto.

My 4:3 set does true WS, but only switches correctly if Sat box set to 16:9, SCART ON and SCART cable not loose. Soemtimes the SCART cable is jogged slightly loose

I think people are misinterpreting the thread title.

He's not asking about the Sky News Ireland channel in general, but about the half-hour Irish news bulletins on the channel.

I don't know if he is correct, but I presume he is. Sky News had to move to a new studio to incorporate widescreen, but I presume that didn't affect the Irish news studio

I understood the title, and Sky News Ireland at 6:30 and 10pm certainly is in widescreen.

If he is looking at it through Active later in the evening, its not in widescreen, but then, none of the 8 screens are.

I'm looking at it right now and it is in widescreen.

The problem is that the 16:9 switching is broken on Sky News Ireland.

My Sony TV stays in Smart mode when I change to Sky News Ireland, where it usually changes to 16:9 mode for all other widescreen programs.

Even stranger, my TV changes to 16:9 as soon as I switch from Sky News Ireland. Even if I'm moving to a 4:3 channel. It changes back to Smart then after a few seconds.

Thanks PlazzT . I have been away since I initiated this thread and apart from the smarta**e comments by Maisflocke( ) I read the findings with interest. Totally agree its in w/s ,just the scart switch isn't working which threw me at the time..... Still why the hell can't they fix it ??!! Any news on the old gnome yet??:)
