Home game: 2 or 3 tables?

I have a few people coming over next weekend. I think there's going to be in the region of 18-22, and I'm wondering whether to put on 2 tables or 3. In my opinion, 3 tables would mean short-handed and things should run a lot quicker. But my local room strives hard to keep tables at 9/10, and I'm sure there must be a better reason than "giving dealers a break".

Anyone got any experience of running a small home tourney like this?

3 tables of 7 is better than 2 tables of 10 imho.

You tend to play more hands when the number of players at the table is less. This is what I like about home games - I'd go for 3 tables

Personally if its 18 players id def go for 2 tables of 9. Maybe im in the minority here (and it could be that iv probably been playing poker less then a lot of people here - around a year - and i feel my pre flop play is better at a fuller table) but I much prefer 8/9/10 people at a table. You will get to play shorthanded later on anyway as people drop out so its not like your not going to get the best of both worlds
