Has anybody any idea where I could get a ticket for the Sigur Ros Dublin gig.

It's well sold out but if anyone knows someone who knows someone who has a friend that might want to sell a ticket, I would be forever indebted.

Likewise, in an equally desperate state for tickets...not looking to encourage ticket touting - but would be flexible to a degree regarding price.

Four times the face value is a bit much mate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,866 ✭✭✭flasher0030

    Why €140 ??

    They only cost approx €35.

For a band with little or no commercial success, there are a lot of people out there who genuinely love their music and would love to go the gig.
I can understand someone wanting to make a few bob but €280 for something that cost €70 is pretty selfish in anyone's world.

Hoping to go to the Olympia tomorrow evening to see if any tickets are to be got outside.

I wish there was some militant anti-tout group I could report this kinda malarky to that would setup a hilarious semi ironic punishment.

Heres a hint guys: If Tout McTout Tout really does have some spare tickets if NO ONE buys them at his inflated price he'll be forced to sell them at face value OR LESS. Thats assuming hes not going to just lure you into an alley and rob you blind. 4x times face value is pretty much that anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 626 ✭✭✭Kazaanova

There were a few on eBay that went for more than 140 I believe. I'm a big fan, without a ticket, and I'd pay a lot of money to see these guys, but paying 140 is just too much money for me. I could scrape together and do it sure, but it takes all the enjoyment out of it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭penexpers

I guesstimate the touts will be looking for around 75. There's pretty big demand for these tickets.

Anyone who sells a ticket for a SR gig is mad anyway :) I got a ticket during the fanclub sale and I wouldn't sell it for anything.

Does anyone have a setlist for tonight's gig?

****ing class show I must say. Not quite as good as the last two at the Ambassador but not due to the band but the audience. Fair amount of noisy bastards tonight.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭penexpers

Set list was exactly the same as Edinburugh

I forgot my camera. Was loving the shadowplay at the start. I missed it during the end because I was zoned out, eyes closed and thrashing on the spot quietly. :v:

I have some blurry pictures that I'll upload tomorrow at some stage.

Jesus Christ.....tonight was my first time seeing them. Am Absolutely, utterly, amazingly, majestically blown away by what I experienced tonight.

The encore, I never knew music had the ability to make me feel stoned. I kept on drifting off to another state during the mayhem at the end and shocking myself back into reality. I felt properly dizzy afterwards like I was coming down off something, I'm still floating a little bit (maybe that's the drink)

I can't put in words properly what an experience the concert tonight was. I sat there dumbfounded, overawed and with tears welling up in my eyes......

I'm sorry Funkstard but you've got Sigur Rósism, a rare disease that causes you to appreciate great music.

I mean, I loved them before, but nothing, absolutely nothing compares with seeing them live. Obviously alot of other people felt the same, because I saw a fair few red eyes outside afterwards, and people wandering around with a little smile on their face, and a far away look in their eyes..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

I just wanted to give everyone in the room a big hug, even the noisy ****ers down the back.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭memaeve

It was a wonderful gig, I just wish I hadn't been so tired. Ran off home straight afterwards.
To be honest, I heard more shushing than I did talking. How ironic. :)
    Love that band.

What I'd hear is a bunch of people shouting and laughing, one person shushing them and another bunch of people shushing the shusher. Highly annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Funkstard

Haha I thought the hecklers were funny...

The acoustics in the Olympia are something else aren't they? You could hear the quietest of shushes, and, of course the loudest of "YEEEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!!!"'s, or "SIGUUUR ROOSSSSS WOOOOOOO!!!!"

    Haha

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 626 ✭✭✭Kazaanova

Huge expectations seeing them live for the first time, all completely surpassed of course. Intoxicating, wonderful, amazing gig.

Amina were really great, and just because its a band made up of four women doesnt mean it HAS to be cute, they're really talented musicians, but also the cutest band I've ever seen in my life.

Sigur were perfect. I mean they're really just in their own world up there, doing it like nobody else can. A real experience seeing them play, and the sweetest, greatest music I've ever heard.

    unbelievable gig. absolutely blown away!

"play track 6 off album no.2!"

    excellent!

    gonna start a thread on our fellow w a n k e r shusshers

Amazing show. The encore was probably the single most amazing thing I have EVER seen in a live show and goddamn Ive seen a few. The support were brilliant too. Dave Fanning was hanging around Brogans after complaining about the shushers and applauding the screamers while also sayin Elbow was a better show. Sorry Dave... the crowd may have been up its own hole at times but you cant neglect what was probably the finest show this year in Ireland. Yes Arcade Fire included.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,918 ✭✭✭Deadwing

Yeah the encore of untitled 8..my god. I cant even begin to describe it. Otherworldly is about the best i can do. Incredible. Best gig ive ever seen, bar none. And yes it was ironic that at times the shushers were louder than the talkers :D The worst time was during the long silence in the middle of that one song from Agaetis Byrjun, and some ****in muppet down the back shouts "WHIST NOW!!"

Can't put into words how I feel about the gig but I'll make an attempt.. So unbelievably amazing how their music made me want to laugh and cry and dance and sing and hug everyone and tell everyone I love them and everything in life is going to be ok, one of the best experiences of my life I have to say I didn't hear any of the shushers as after about five minutes I was in my own world! Amazing! Why did it have to end?!

    That gig was absolutely amazing.

I'd been a fan of Sigur Rós for a long time but I'd never seen them live. The gig was not was I was expecting at all. I wasn't expecting songs I knew and loved to sound so different yet exactly the same, so powerful, so energetic. There really was this real and palpable buzz and energy which just blew me away. I was in the pit, hanging over the barrier and I was spellbound for the entire show.

Later that evening I was introduced to Jonsi. It came as a complete surprise and being the mupp that I am I just froze up completely and was barely able to stutter a few words.

I almost feel that Sigur Rós live, and Sigur Rós recorded as I had previously known them are two different bands. Two wonderful and fascinating bands, but different all the same.
