Getting TV through a gfx card (7800 GT)

Anyone know how to go about getting TV from an aerial onto a PC via the vivo connectors on a gfx card, specifically a 7800 GT?

I have the s-video in and the phono-type jack for video in - is it only possible via a specific tuner card or can modern gfx cards do this through software?

Have two monitors and so was thinking it would be nice to get tv on one

You need a Tv tuner card im affraid (at least im sure you do).
Actually no, it couldnt be possible, the connectors on your gfx card are only outputs so its not really possible.

    *cough* VIVO *cough*
The 'I' does, in fact, stand for in.

But yes, I'm reasonably sure a TV tuner card is required here. Plugging coax cable into random ports on your GFX card is not advised.:p

Edit: Anything off this page should do http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.asp?bn=10419

You can pick up a Hauppage PVR 150 (which is enough for TV) in PC World for €89.99 if you can't be arsed waiting for delivery. It's a good card.

Does the happauge PVR150 use standard coax straight from an aeriel? Or do you need digital cable or satellite?

All i want is the standard analogue tv RTE1+2, TV3, TG4, and the english channels I get from being close enough to the north..

Sorry to revive this but though I'd ask a stoopid question anyway.
If vivo card isnt able to take tv then what can the 'Video In' be used for?

It is able to take video in, by Composite or S-Video. It doesn't have a TV-Tuner though, which means that it cant tune in channels from a coax feed.

Only useful for playing PS2 / Gamecube on your PC screen really.

it can be used for a composite video signal. Such as those from a video, dvd player, Sky box etc etc.

A normal NTL or antenna signal is a radio signal that requires a moulator\tuner to tune in the appropiate station and convert it into a AV stream.

You can connect your tv and use it to tune the station in for you and record on your pc with such a graphics card.
