What kind of setups are you cats using pedalswise?
I use a Morley Pro Series Volume Pedal, Boss Tu-2 and Blues Driver.
It's nice and simple, gets the job done.

Modded wah into ME-50. On the ME-50, I use the distortion, Harmonizer, phaser, flanger, tremelo, delay, compressor, eq, threshold and whammy. It makes some interesting noises.

Boss TU-2 at the start of the chain which I use as a cut off switch as well as its actual function, then into a ProCo You Dirty RAT distortion into a Boss PS-5 Super Shifter (I use the pitchshifter for a lot of songs to flesh out my sound and the harmonist for ebow) and finally into a Boss BF-3 Flanger which actually doesn't get much use anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭-=al=-

yup! everythings velcroed, cept the wah, talkbox and footswitch, i use batteries for the wah so ive to unplug it wen im not using it, and the talkbox well, its not always there! but most of the time it is :)

its good, does what it does which is a talkbox, people complain about feedback probs but they're easily managable and i find it fine, i dont see the point in buying a proper expensive talkbox, gettin a seperate amp for an effect that u genereally dont use much... the dano one is cheaper and just convienient, works fine for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

do u use any other effects with it (compressor)or does it stand alnoe pretty well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭-=al=-

well i usually have a compressor or EQ on it works well both ways, on clean or overdrive, its more effective on overdrive, but get more cahnce of feedback, on clean its easier to use, it depends but its genereally fine

I've recently gotten a Boss Blues Driver and I'm a bit underwhelmed with it. What do you think of yours?

I like it, it's understated. I use it with the gain on zero and it suits my old school sound very well.
Makes a nice change from using my Big Muff!

i do have some pedals! but its mostly for achieving tone. the compressor, and EQ are for nice lovery tone, chorus is for clean tones, delay is usually always on adds nice thick fatness for solos supershifter is for harmonys and sometimes pitch shifting, wah is well wah, everyone has one! talkbox, i splashed out on! but its not as complicated as it looks, i get a lovely sound from my amp too :)

eh i've a bit of a pedal addiction...

    boss volume pedal
tu2 hooked up to the tuner out of the volume pedal
    modified ts-9 tube screamer

then it's a bredhead true bypass effects loop...
    with these
    lovetone big cheese fuzz
boss ds-1 soon to be keeley'ed
70's colorsound dipthonizer filter (it's dipthong or vowel filter with sweep/fuzz)
    70's ross orange phaser
original 80's ibanez ad-9 analog delay
    boss ps-3 pitchshifter/delay
(this loop can also feedback any pedal in the loop on itself)
    from there it's into a

80's boss dc-3 digital dimension (a kinda chorus/ambience/3D panner effect)
    in stereo into
    boss rv-5 reverb
    stereo out to two amps

this set up means that when the loop is off my clean sound is only running through 3 pedals so it sounds grand,
plus i can go from a fuzz/phaser/delay combo to just my clean sound with one switch

    For guitar, the ME-50
For bass right now, just sticking a MicroCube in front of my bass amp for the chorus and reverb (JC Clean setting).

I never thought of that. So are you just using it for a volume boost?

Not even that, just the tiniest bit of dirt is all I need, I could concievably use it as a boost though I suppose.

    Guitar > Crybaby > Amp

And that be it. I have a Boss DD-3 Delay as well but I never use it, to be honest. I'm thinking of getting a Marshall Bluesbreaker II though - or any pedal that gives a bit of a boost when I need it. Any recommendations?

    tubescreamer!!!!!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,635 CMod ✭✭✭✭Ravelleman

    At the moment it's:

Mi Audio Blues Pro* -> Wah^ -> MXR Phase 90 -> ENGL Thunder Combo

    * - like a Tubescreamer
^ - originally a Dunlop 535Q but it broke after 3 hours of use. It is being replaced by a Vox v847, which is simpler to use.

In the near future I'll be adding an SIB Mr Echo, a pedal tuner and possibly some kind of boutique octave/fuzz pedal.

I use marshal footswitch for dist and delay, boss superchorus fairly sparingly, tu-2 obviously, used to use a ridiculous boss x-stortion!

At some acoustic shows I use a tu-2 to split my acoustic signal to always bypass to the pa and the other output to a clean amp which will boost the sound where nessecary.

Our lead guitarist uses a fender twin v and its footswitch and a line 6 dig delay. I sing so am always consious not to get to carried away with the guitar sound and leave that to our excellent lead guy but I'm pretty adamant about making a useful guitar contribution. Recently I saw a four piece where the singer had a line 6 among other bits and pieces and it just looked a little 'thine band shalt revolve around me and my set up'

    anyone know what i mean?
