Request: Plasma TV

I was looking to buy a plasma TV, around 35" to 45".
Anyone got any good recommendation for sites where I can get them pretty cheap. I don't mind getting them from abroad, although preferably in Europe to avoid customs. Brand is not important, because even the "no name" brands are usually just rebadged versions of LG/Philips anyway.

Got an email on this during the week as a special.

Don't know if it's good or bad value

Pricerunner.co.uk is a good price comparison site for electronics in the uk.

Trieds pixmania for a site that delivers to ireland?

Aldi had their 42" Plasma back in Germany last week for 1500 so chances are it will be back in Irl before Xmas, search for previous thread for details

Jaguar Computer Systems in Bluebell do some strange branded 42" plasmas for 1200, + VAT. which brings it to €1452 or thereabouts.

You need to be very careful buying a cheapie plasma. There's a reason why most shops show The Incredibles on thier display models. Try watching a movie with very dark scenes on one. I'd suggest house of Wax as an example.

Have a look first at www.avforums.com. Ignore the obsession with Panasonics. Also consider a DLP rear-screen. Currys had a bargain with a well-reputable Samsung model at 1300 a few months back. The picture quality was much better than plasma. When I watch dark scenes on my Plasma, I wish now I had gone for that instead.

I didn't think Novatech sell to Ireland - unless that has changed recently. Also it is very difficult to get anyone to deliver plasmas to Ireland and even then it will cost £200 or so. Might be cheaper to get a cheap ferry to wales.

Have you had a look at richer sounds? They have a shop in Belfast.

    Try
    www.katronics.de

I saved myself a bargain - their delivery to Ireland is only €80
Check the home entertainment forum and www.avforums.com are very good!

Play.com have a few lcd's and plasma's and they deliver free to ireland.

They are a little dearer (€100ish on the 32" TV I was looking at) than the cheapest uk places but when you take into account that most of those dont deliver to ireland it evens out.

    Crap :(

They should pop up that warning the minute you change the price to euro rather than at the last minute on the checkout.

Still that german crowd look very good pricewise.

Can anyone tell if that Tevion plasma was any good? I heard the picture quality on it was very good.
