Is anyone running a sucessfull business on eBay? Personally I think there is great potential in running a business on eBay.

Has anyone ever heard of drop shipping?

Yeah, its a bit dodgy in my opinion. No seller will tell you that they are drop shipping. In most cases, the seller is simply buying the item from a wholesaler and getting it shipped direct to the buyer, and pocketing the difference. Its a slightly flawed, but seriously overused tactic by middle america to generate income. reminds me of the dot com bust, actually.

And, yes. Several people are running succesful businesses on ebay, so I hear.

Is that not exactly what drop shipping is? Or have I missed something?

Yeah, that's drop shippning. There are a couple of good forums on the net for suppliers/firms that offer the service.
I'll see if I can dig them up for you. I've looked into it, and it does seem good - however if you do attempt it, buy only from recommend dealers - the potential for scams is greater, and you have absolutely NO recourse if something goes wrong.

I believe it's where you have access to certain goods from a supplier and you auction/sell the goods on eBay. When the goods are sold you contact the supplier and they ship the goods directly to the buyer. You hold no stock and the buyer is unaware where it has come from. It's an ingredient of how to get rich quick on eBay junk mails that you get.

The UK revenue is clamping down on eBay "businesses", I'm sure the boys in Dublin Castle are trawling the auctions as well.

i have looked into it extensively. signed up to many sites. but its not viable IMO to make any profit. worthwhile profit anyways...

I too have looked into it but decided against trying to use it as a source of income because although I'm sure if you worked hard and were smart about it you could make a few bob, it seemed like me to be a lot of work for little enough reward. There are so many people already trying to make a quick buck this way that almost regardless of the products I found there were already a whole pile of other people all trying to out price each other with the exact same drop ship products.

If you're looking for some guidelines and general info about the best ways to make money online with auctions there are some free ebooks on the subject at dulydiligent.com. I think I have another one as well on my server's HD somewhere, I can try to dig up for you if you want.

I have actually sold on e-bay using dropshipping. It is exactly what you say, The wholeseller sends the product directly to your customer.

Money can be made but you need to find the right wholesalers. I have a few great websites on my other pc that i have given a loan to someone that i will get for you all tomorrow.

Also i have an email address of a company in China that dropship MP3 players(nice mark up even if you ship a few to urself and sell them to your friends) if your interested. P.M for this email as i don't want to give it to to many people.

I did it for a while but decided to try something else out. There is alot easier ways to start making money on the web. Ill give you 2 for example that i am using:

    1. GDI : http://www.website.ws/triggerkg
Go to the above link have a look at the site and fill out the ticket to watch a short movie that will explain this business to you. Basically you get a 7 day free trail and after that it will cost you $10pm for your own .ws website with hosing options. You can also build a business out of this as you can get others to join from yur own link and you will earn a monthly comission from that. Have a look the site and movie are very imformative. This is the 37th fastest growing Inc500 company in america.

    2. Vortex Marketing Group: http://www.the-vortex-team.com/
This company is still in pre-launch and the CEO has given me vouchers worth $199 to give to people so they can join for free, also the company is just about to move into a new Multi-Level Marketing business and they are giving each member $150 worth of vouchers to spend with this company. Take a look for yourself. Is worth it considering it is FREE to startup for now.

    Talk to you soon,

    Kieron
