    Hey

I was arsin around online and saw some peoples XP screen shots of XP and they have some pretty impressive layouts, tool bars backgrounds and tool bars, nothing looks like the default or limited themes that come with XP.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a guide or some tips on skinning XP. Is there a program you can get to do the lot?

Do you download skins and put them in a certain sys folder?

    Please and thank you...

There are a few programs that people use, one of the more popular ones is samurize.
    http://www.samurize.com/modules/myalbum/

Check out some screenshots there, you can also download it from that website :).
Be warned though, if you play games i have been told these themes can have an adverse affect on the performance of your games.

    Will take a gander...

do these prgrams take up a lot of memory and processor speed just running in the back ground?

have to weigh up which is more important, looking good or spending more time looin at it while it crawls along...

Samurri wasnt really well supported...i dont know if its the restrictions set on this computer or if im makin a balls of it but they load and then flicker off...

They look as if they chew up the PC's resources so maybe il put it on ice...

If you replace your uxtheme.dll file with a modified version you can enable the builtin XP theme manager to use 3rd party themes and not just the crappy themes that microsoft supplied. You might not get all the fancy eye-candy that Samurize can provide, but you're not using any extra resources.

Beat me to it. Use that and a program like Samurize for total impending doom! :)

Syle XP or Stardock WindowBlinds Enchanced are the best progs for Win XP.
You don't have to download themes, just click on the theme you like and that's it. WindowBlinds officially recommends by Microsoft. :)
