Hi i am thinking about heading to the US for something like 2-3 months for traveling and i would like to work while i am there.

I am in my final year in college so i would not be able to get a J1 as i do not plan on coming back to study.

What visa would i be able to get to work in the USA.

I got a J1 after I finished my Diploma year in college. No problems and no questions asked in the embassy.

If you have applied to do a Masters course you can get one too as far as I know. Even if you need to go as far as accepting the course you can always pull out before you pay your fees (once you get your visa first though ;) ).

If you visit the US on the visa waiver program (i.e.fillout the piece of green paper at immigration and are allowed entry for 90 days) you CANNOT legaly work during your time there.
Now of course you would try and pick up some casual work over there and get paid cash under the counter, but under no circumstance give that impression to the inspector. I have heard stories of guys going over on visa waivers and replying to the question 'Are you going work' with 'I might if can find some'......idiots.

Your only option really is a J1 as people stated above. Unlike Australia nd New Zealand there are no working-holiday visas in teh US.

i think you can get a holiday visa, i cant remember the name of it, but i think you have to have the job sorted out before you go. Im not sure though, as long as you can show that you have to come back to Ireland and not stay in America i think.
