Im on the check out page on Dell.ie and I keep getting a warning about secure connections.

First it tells me that i am on a secure connection but when the next page loads it tells me "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items, Do you want to display the nonsecure items?".

Obviously Dell is a legit store but im just worried bout giving out my credit card details over a partially nonsecure connection. Is it completely safe?

bout as safe as online shopping gets, i wouldn't worry bout it, if you don't feel comfortable ordering online, call them up and order it

The insecure content will probably be images or an included advert that is being pulled from an ordinary HTTP server. Once the page you are using is running over HTTPS you should be fine.

Yeah i know they aren't the best. I only ordered from them because I need one quickly. I was waiting a month for a laptop from Fujitsu Siemens just for them to tell me that they dont make that model anymore. Wasnt able to find any better deals from other stores, so I just went for Dell.

If you know any good deals on gaming laptops let me know. Might cancel my order form Dell if I like it.

Had a look at them but they only come with a 128mb graphics card and also their RAM only runs at 333MHz(I might be wrong on this one).

The one from dell has a Geforce Go 6800 256MB and its RAM runs at 533Mhz. I dont actually like Dell laptops much but I cant find anything with equal specs for the the same price.

more memory doesnt mean a better graphics card.

Well the Geforce Go is a great graphics card and having more memory is an advantage. The only problem I can see with the card is the memory isn't DDR3.

The memory for the cpu is different to that of the graphics card. CPU's do not currently use ddr3, ddr2 being the newest they support.

Graphics card usually support ddr or gddr3. Maybe list the spec's of each and people could tell you what u're looking for? seem a bit confused atm.

Just to be a foil to this guy's sabre, I've two dell desktops and more recently a dell laptop over the last 4 yrs...never a moment's trouble that wasn't user or s/w related. Any hardrive can fail...dell didn't make it to begin with...
Hey, maybe I'm the statistical anomlay...or maybe your friends are...

@OP be advised that Dell will take at least a forthnight to get your unit built and shipped, unless you're buying from the refurb outlet.
"Jesus thats gre" has an XPS gen2 that he's looking to sell on the FS computer hardware forum....you should take a look...might be a bit pricey for ya though

Yeah the RAM is DDR2 at 533mhz and the geforce is either ddr or ddr2. Def not ddr3 cos it costs so much.

As Wertz mentions above Dell tend to be fairly reliable. I've bought a large number of desktops and laptops for business environments that endure very heavy usage and none of them have had any problems - in fact they were more reliable than a lot of the other equipment they sit along with. Dell's stuff may have it's failings from the point of view of someone who wants that bit extra from their PC but if all someone wants is a hassle free pre-built machine then they're hard to beat.

Yeah I've had 3 dells and a laptop. Not a single problem ( abit of delay with shipping) but the H/W and S/W are fine.
