how do you mean the os is crap?

I'd google for drivers and update as necessary :)

 500 for a touchpad - is it made of gold ??

Check the toshiba utilities in control panel.
www.bms.ie and follow links for downloads

when you say "broken" - cracked - no functionality - erattic - getting worse - doesn't work if you plug a mouse in - etc. - don't forget some pads use more pressure others have nasty/lovely apps in the background so you can click on the / use the edges for functions.

it's the functionality, there's none, got a mouse yesterday and that works fine, but prefer the touchpad.. oh it's not made of gold :) it's the laptop that cost 500. And the OS, well there's no Intel chips in it so every function is slow, ie it takes a good five minutes for laptop to function.
    anyhow tks! will try website...

OS is Operating System - I dont see why no intel chips has an effect on that.
Sounds like you got ripped off with your laptop if it takes 5minutes to start up.
