i have bank account with ulster bank at the moment, but i'm thinking of getting a rabodirect account (as the interest is better, and no charges)..
i also have a considerable amount of money saved up (i get paid cash every week), and haven't been to bank in a while,
sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question, but i'm wondering, what should i do with the cash, i.e. should i put it all into ulster bank, and when i get Rabo account, transfer it across, or is there more suitable place to put to put the money...

(also i assume that if deposit all the money into Ulster Bank, they won't start asking questions, since i have paid all taxes due...?)

You should also look into Northern Rock online account....interest rate slight better than radodirect!!

Are Rabo or Northern Rock ever going to offer ATM cards? I'm waiting for them to offer them before I bother moving to because having the money in their a/c is great but it's annoying to get it out. So does anyone know?

I doubt it. They are not a full service bank, but more of a secondary savings and Investment bank. ATM cards would increase their overheads significantly so they would not be competitive. Also you don't usually have ATM cards on savings accounts.

as long as its under 10k(might be more now) its ok.

if you payed the taxes, whats the worry, don't take any s**t off the
banks they work for you not the other way around.

Northern Rock is the best guaranteed interest rate.
You might want to look at a unit linked fund which should perfom
    better over the long term.

The best way is too use a discount broker and one of the big insurance
    companies.
