FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER
EIRCOM LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
Cork City -v- St Pat's Ath 7.45
Turner's Cross
Shamrock Rvs -v- Bray Wndrs 7.45
Dalymount Park
UCD -v- Bohemians 7.45
Belfield
Shelbourne -v- Finn Harps 8.00
Tolka Park
Derry City -v- Waterford Utd 7.45
The Brandywell

CORK CITY v ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC

League leaders Cork won't risk
topscorer John O'Flynn who remains
their main concern with a groin strain.

Fellow striker Neale Fenn should be
over an ankle knock to allow him start
alongside Willie Bruton or Denis Behan.

'If we play to our full potential we
should be okay,' said boss Damien
Richardson. 'If we don't, then Pat's
are in position to take full advantage.
I know they are not coming here to lie
down.'

Saints welcome back goalkeeper Barry
Ryan after he missed last week's 1-1
draw in Waterford due to 'flu.

DERRY CITY v WATERFORD UNITED

Defender Clive Delaney returns for
Derry having missed the cup semi-final
defeat at Cork City through suspension.

Striker Gary Beckett should be fit
following a knock on a knee picked up
at Turner's Cross.

'There was a feeling of disbelief
because we'd forgotten what it was like
to lose,' said boss Stephen Kenny after
the Cork defeat.

Blues make an enforced change at left-
back as John Hayes is out with a
hamstring strain. Niall Andrews should
come in at right-back with David Breen
likely to switch flanks.

SHAMROCK ROVERS v BRAY WANDERERS
Keith Doyle is suspended again for
Rovers who remain without Jason
McGuinness.

'What we've done up to know is
irrelevant,' said Rovers' boss Roddy
Collins. 'Nothing matters apart from
these last five games and that's all we
can think about.'

Bray's Jody Lynch misses his tenth
successive game due to an ankle injury.

Paul Caffrey, cup-tied for last
Sunday's cup semi-final defeat at
Drogheda, comes back into the squad
while Wayne Byrne and Willie Tyrrell
are promoted from the under-21s.

SHELBOURNE v FINN HARPS
Shelbourne must rejig their defence in
the absence of Colin Hawkins as they
hope to make it eight wins from nine.

Steve Williams, Jamie Harris and Alan
Reynolds are joined on the injured list
by Richie Baker and Stuart Byrne, and
with Byrne out, Curtis Fleming could
slot into the back four.

Harps, not surprisingly following their
biggest win of the season in beating
Longford 5-0 last week, expect to be
unchanged.

'That's the best we've played this
season and it's come at the right
time,' said Harps boss Anthony Gorman.

UCD v BOHEMIANS
Brian Gannon comes in at right-back for
the suspended Alan Mahon in the only
likely change to the UCD line-up.

Alan McNally remains sidelined with a
hamstring injury.

'The top three are playing the bottom
three tonight, so you'll be looking for
results elsewhere, but we'll still have
to do our own business,' said UCD boss
Pete Mahon.

Bohs are without Gareth Farrelly and
fellow midfielder Mark O'Brien due to
suspension. Skipper Kevin Hunt, John
Paul Kelly and Stephen Rice all expect
to return.

So, the top three play three of the relegation threatened clubs in what I would expect to be three comfortable wins. It will take a performance of the season for either Pats or Waterford to travel home with all three points, and even a draw would be an achievement. Shelbourne face a newly-confident Finn Harps side after their recent demolition of Longford, but with 8 wins in their last 9 games, I fully expect us to pick up 3 points here.

Rovers and Bray could be tight, and I expect Bohs to beat UCD by a couple.

Just in from Tolka, the league ain't over yet...

Great first few minutes from Shels, hit the bar within about 30 seconds! Jayo's goal was great, good quick thinking from Weso to create it. Crawford and Fleming were excellent, but the second half was typically depressing Shels. Bobby Ryan got MOTM, how I will never know. Another 3 points, our excellent run continues. If we beat Cork in a couple of weeks you just never know...

I can't believe the Blues beat Derry only for Pat's to beat Cork.

Still, with Rovers and Harps both losing we still have a fighting chance for survival, and are out of the bottom two, however temporarily that may be.
Its going to be a nervous last few games.

If only we hadn't conceeded in the 93rd minute up in Derry! :( Unless something magical happens next week I;m not getting too excited, I'd rather Derry would have won tonight tho, aqh well such is life.

Congratulations to both Pats and Waterford tonight, fantastic results! Is Dolan really a God? Haven't they got 10 points for 12 since he went there now?!

Yeah was nice from where I was sitting. Other than that and hitting the woodwork twice it wasn't the greatest game ever, but I though Jim Crawford played excellently, that block he made is worthy of an extended run in the team. Also, how many times did a Harps player get in the way of a Shelbourne shot? I lost count around 6 or 7! Still, the result is all that matters, we still have a very outside chance of catching up. And there's no pressure on us which is in our favour too.

True, no pressure at all, and we are playing well. The post was hit twice, and about 4 shots went within about 2 inches of posts/crosscars.

Harps were dogged in defending, credit to them, battled extremely hard, but with the victories of the other relegation candidates tonight they are essentially guaranteed doomed.

The rovers match was full of incident: noable some terrible rovers tactics and a out of the box goalkeeper hand ball,

Roddy was on a touchline ban but lurked in the stadium so i feel is accountable for tatics, rutherford was played left full again, the guys NOT a defender, many mny mistakes from him. Tony Sheridan had a bad game but was subbed too lats from marc kenny to make an impact.

the rovers team played well and will feel unlucky to go down 1-0 to bray after a scrappy goal from old boy "caffo", the Bray keeper smothered the ball at trevor molloys feet at about the hour mark, using the man u v barnet reference it should have been a straight red, the ref didn't even have words but gave the free, surely thats a goal oppertunity stifled by a foul? see EL weekly for the incident its bizare. rovers did all the pushing but bray had 2 very good chanes come close, brays no.10 was very strong and pkayed very well, lee roache was amazing but was unfortunite the only molloy seemed to be on the same page as him as their link up play was let down by some lazy play around them, rovers defence were very unsure and shakey it was a point of concern in the stands.

rovers atack looked like theyed get something but honestly the luck wasn't with them (see GK incident) rovers were the better team by a shade, but a draw would have been the fair result bray will feel they nicked something walking away with the 3 points, i can honestly say i've never felt so bad leaving a football match the dailymount curse prevails

10 from 15. And we were very unlucky to lose against Bray.

Edit pats finished with 9 men.

Everyone in the top and bottom has their destiny in their own hands, i knew a few weeks ago beating Rovers would ensure we be safe. Thought four points from last 12 would do it. Now we need 7 to be super safe.

stupid saint pats :)

To be fair, while i've always had a soft spot for pats fans after a monumental p!ss up a few years ago in inchicore, everyone of them i talked to last night said they wanted us to win the league, and we both celebrated with the news that both derry and rovers lost, so it wasnt a bad night all round..

Pats fans, legends :thumbs up:
