    Hi,

I have a first date tonight and its a dinner date. It just got me thinking about what do guys think is acceptable for a girl to wear for a this type of thing. I have ruled out the jeans and short skirt and am going with trousers and a dressy top. Is this too conservative?

    All opinions welcome.

Hey Japonica!.. I think you should wear a nice pair of jeans and a dressy top!!.. The jeans will keep it casual just incase he decides to take ya to mac Donalds!!!! haha!.. And if he turns out to be a nice fella the dressy top will look fab when he takes you to that fancy resteraunt!!

I think as long as it looks like you have made an effort he will be impressed. Too much effort and you'll look desperate. If you wear a skirt he'll expect a shag (I'm trying to freak you out here :D)

Nah... Just wear something you feel confident and comfortable in. He prob won't even notice anyway!! (seriously)

I would say it depends entirely on the image of yourself you wish to portray, and what you wish him to think of you, be it sexy, casual, tarty, whatever.

    Well,

I wore black trousers, a dressy halterneck top and a fake fur golden coloured shrug with glitsy sandals, so quite classy without being overboard. I was surprised when I met him that he had a suit on with a shirt and cuff links (no tie). Still quite formal if you ask me. Luckily I didn't wear jeans....

    Thanks for all the mails

i think the real question everyone wants answered is:

    did he get lucky?

    Hi Ferdi.

Well, lets put it this way, he got another opportunity of meeting me again on Sunday night. I wore jeans this time and he wore cords and a shirt.

All was fine until my friend arrived and they just did not get on. . . He was after a few drinks and has since apologised. Thinking of giving him the heave Ho since I was on a date (not a first date) with another guy on Sat night who I'm infatuated with.

He dresses really really well I must say - he had a casual TShirt and designer jeans and funcky red and white shoes. No point in keeping them both as no doubt I will loose out in the long run. . .

Yeah, go for the guy you like more. And if you really like him, imo i wouldn't rush it. If you rush it it's like an overload of emotions and then you suddenly wont like him that much. Also, if you like him that much, and he comes and goes, then you lost a friend too... good luck to ya! :)
