DS Games

Basic Question: Are Goldeneye or EpIII any good at all? The only DS game I actually like to date is Advance Wars and Nintendogs. The others aren't my thing really.

Are the above two good? By good I don't mean excellent, I'm pretty sure without even asking that they are merely average, but are they playable?

    Thanks.

PS - any decent action/strategy games coming out on DS?

Episode 3 is pure muck. It's painful. Haven't played Goldeneye though... but I don't hold out much hope for it.

Ep3 is definetely playable. If you've ever played Streets of Rage on the MegaDrive, then it's kind of the same deal (though I am in no way suggesting that Ep3 is as good as Streets). The multiplayer 3D space combat is good, though it is a multi-cart title. Also, I found the lightsabre boss battles to be quite good as well - probably the best part of the game I thought (though they can be slightly frustrating at first until you learn to recognize your opponent's manouvres). Overall, I can't say the game held my attention for very long though.

As for Goldeneye, never played it but by all accounts it's not very good.

While the DS is a god amongst hand-helds it does have a problem in the game department.

Other than the ones you have the only ones that I could recommend are:
Mario 64 ( not as good as the original)
Another Code ( if you like short puzzle games with good story's)
Metroid Prime Hunters (Well, when it comes out)

One thing that really bugged me was how the DS version of EpIII is identical to the GBA version with added sections of space combat.

    Not a good sign.

I think I'll get it anyway though....I need a new game, and puzzle, racing and mario type games really aren't my thing. I got a DS for AWDS but it would be nice to have something else to mess around with...

How about Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow?

I second this motion, Castlevania is class..

Goldeneye:Rogue Agent is absolutely painful to play man don't do it.
EP III is woeful in DS standards that's for sure.

If you're looking for something different to tide you over until the Christmas deluge of games, get Another Code, I liked it, it has a certain charm.

Don't get EP III, you'll make baby Jesus cry..

I was wondering why you hadn't even considered Castlevania. It's far better than trash like EPIII. In fact it's one of the highlights of the year.

    Castlevania,
another title to add to my long wish list of games.

Bomberman DS is pretty good too... although only really as a multiplayer game, which you can do witha single cart.

Sprung is pretty amusing if you can pick it up cheap somewhere.

Sprung is 9.97 preowned in GAME... so bad it's funny! :p

I could never get past one particular conversation where I kept accidently convincing my best friend to kill himself...

That Sega game with so many different names that was released alongside Mario64 DS, I think it was called Feel Thr Magic or some thing like it at one stage, is meant to be far better than Sprung.

Yep.. Project Rub or Feel The Magic XX/XY... it's very good but a bit limited... but it's a very different type of game to Sprung, so a comparison is a little unfair.

Project Rub is more like Wario Ware with it's series of bizarre mini games.

There is a sequel coming out soon called Where Do Babies Come From? It looks pretty cool... it has multiplayer games in it.

Yes, because Age of Empires and Black and White would work really well on a DS.:p ¬_¬

Why do you say that surly the touch screen would be ideal for a rts type game, im looking forward to a future c&c red alert game hopefully coming to the ds and defo getting aoe if it comes out too.
