    Hey,

Myself and a few of the crew are going on a road trip in a few weeks time and are thinking of staying in the Stratasphere Hotel in Vegas, only $25 a night per room. Has anyone stayed there before? What's it like?

Its at the far end of the strip which is why it is cheap. You will need a car or take taxis everywhere.

The $25 a night room rate does not include tax or a mandatory "resort fee" of $5 per day.

Are you booking direct or via a site such as http://www.hotels.com ?

You are much better off staying on the main strip. The money you are saving by staying at the stratosphere will be eaten up by bus/taxi fares.

I booked through www.expedia.com and got good rates in Ballys Hotel - very nice hotel right next to Paris-Las Vegas and across from the Bellagio.

i'd reccommend staying on the strip if poss, but you won't get anything for that price. Mid-week tends to be cheaper. Check out www.tripadviser.com for reviews of the Stratosphere and other hotels.

i thought the stratosphere was grand, yea sure its at the far end of the strip but a short 5/10 min walk and you're pretty much on the main part of the strip, and bus isnt exactly expensive if you dont want to walk...the rooms are decent, its got a nice swimming pool on the roof and you can get up the tower for free before 2 in the afternoon i think...although having seen the trailer for that film domino i think its been blown up...

I've been there a couple of times, decent place, room was for the same price as you, and it was monsterous. Casino is ok, card tables were ok, texas holdem tables were few, although this was before anyone and his brother started playing the game.

The others who said to stay on the strip are out of their minds! If you stay in the strat for say 2 nights then you'll have a couple of hundred quid more to bet with. You can get the bus or walk (although this is hard when its so hot) or a taxi, to any other casino/show you like.

Anyway, I think you should stick with the statosphere for that price, enjoy.

You can get an all day pass for the bus that runs up and down the strip for only a few dollars.
Have you looked at circus circus? It's a bit closer to the main strip but is also pretty cheap.

Ah bite the bullet and get talking to the bank manager...then head over to the MGM and the other big boys to find out what Vegas is really like...

Well I stayed there last year and it was fine.
But with 3000 rooms I suppose your experience may vary :D

We're renting a car so it will be grand. We don't mind a 10 min walk to the main part of the strip, we're going there in 2 weeks time now...can't wait
