I'am using Mozilla Firefox and I think that this is the safest and fastest browser on earth. It has a great stability + it can be personalised with great themes and extensions. Firefox rules!!!

These get started every few weeks and the result is always the same, Firefox wins, the bloody end.

Actually it appears that the most secure browser is Opera*. I was an Opera user for many years until FF appeared - it was the open source/free bit that did it for me :)

    * According to this month's PC Plus - they did a study based on threats and advisories. Opera won hands down. IE didn't really come close to either FF or Opera surprisingly enough :D

Technical your right but your also wrong
Some webmasters are lazy and code only for Internet Explorer because they can't be arsed following set standards :D

That's pretty much by design from our friends at Microsoft.

Any good, non-RAM intensive browsers? FIrefox takes up a fair bit of resources it seems.

A joint decision also involving a seperate thought process by our friends at the Mozilla Foundation. Its not like Microsoft didn't set out to ensure that Windows Update doesn't work through Firefox, MF didn't give them the chance to make that decision.

I came across that during the week, and haven't had a chance to look at it properly yet. Maybe next week once things have died down at work.

When in X it's firefox, when in console it's links

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭Mutant_Fruit

Well, all firefox has to do is implement the extremely horrible and hackable ActiveX control system in firefox and Windows Update will work with firefox. Thankfully though they havn't. Very very few places still use ActiveX, and the main one of those is Windows Update.

safari is not bad but strang it will not work on some Apple Build.
webcites bit Messed up on apples side & as always Firefox is the best for most webpages. so in the long run Firefox wins

Well, i'm not tapping in morse, i'm using it to tap out my ethernet
frames and IP packets in binary..

I tell you, it's really difficult to keep up with 10baseT and having
to count ahead to work out the checksum..

I want to add few words about Opera browser. It's good, but sometimes it has a problems with webpage encoding. For example, if you want to take a look at non-english website.
