Does anyone know the difference between a base and a comfortline VW Golf? i know there are extra features in the comfortline, but not sure what , and cant find out from google either. Is the interior/dash any different, or is it extras like electric windows/sunroof etc?
    thanks

Well I know from the Passats you get back electric windows, more comfy seats, alloys, cd player!

Think it is the same more or less for Golf's.....also the comfortline are also more Bhp engines!!

No power upgrade. In the base model you get a steering wheel and seats if you're lucky. The comfortline will have things like a radio, carpets and windows.

Seriously though, the base model is so basic it has windy windows. The comfortline should have electric windows and mirrors, an upgraded stereo, upgraded interior trim and air con (I think).

my mum has a comfortline 04 markV golf, it doesn't have aircon but the rest of what alias no.9 said is true.

L5, what version of the Golf are you talking about?

I think the Mark IV golf only came with electric windows as standard in 2000 or 2001. Personally, I don't understand why someone would fork out for an overpriced (IMO) car like a Mark IV golf and not get electric windows...

I had a 99 Comfortline, and it had electric windows x 4, electric mirrors and an arm rest. I don't know how many of those features you would find in a baseline model of that year.

a lot of the 02 base golfs im looking at have no electric windows, ive no intention of buying one without electric windows. in my opinion theyre not an extra, theyre a basic necessity

Wow, maybe it's only 03 that they introduced electric windows as standard.

Totally agree, no excuse for windy up windows in this day and age...

Depends what year the Golf is.

1998 - 2002 MkIV Golf Base had no electric windows, electric mirrors, remote central locking or cd player as far as I know.

Late 2002 - 2004 MkIV Golf Base had these.

1998 - 2004 MkIV Golf Comfortline had electric windows all round, electric mirrors, velour seats and door trim, cd player, rear head rests, remote central locking, front centre arm rest and trip computer.

I think they might have upgraded the comfortline since 1999, as I didn't have the CD player or trip computer in my one. Can't remember what material the seats were.

01 Mk IV didn't have a CD player but had a radio upgrade in it.

This is an old thread found from Google but it almost directly talks about a question I have.

I am thinking about things to do/upgrade in the Summer and my base model Golf drivers seat is not as good as it used to be. I was thinking of getting a new seat to replaced the current drivers seat. Im the only one that matters :p

For understandable reasons though they only come in sets if Im looking for VW OEM stuff but at only 150euro or there abouts. Im not willing to spend mad money on it. Its just my old seat is a bit hard and has a rip or two.

The comfortline ones pop up on adverts sometimes and I was just wondering how much better those velour ones are to the basic fabric ones. A slight bit less hard I would hope. Its more the padding rather then the exterior fabric Im looking at.

    EDIT:

To contribute a bit more for future googlers my base spec Golf had a radio and cassette player and a CD player above it in a separate DIN unit thing.
