    Hi guys,

Just this week I had digiweb metro installed in my house and I thought there would be no problems at all with it running as Ive had broadband with chorus in the past and it worked fine. When the guy came to install it though I wasnt expecting him so my computer was out of action (adding a harddrive) so on installation it wasnt confomred it was working on my computer at all. Since then I have the computer back up and running but no matter what i do i cant seem to find a connection to the internet. Ive tested the connection on my friends laptop and it works fine so theres no problem there. Hes had eircom BB in the past so perhaps theres something different installed on his pc?

The weird thing though is that it detects the ethernet cable, I can obtain an IP address and i can also ping sites such as google but when i try to bring up a webpage im getting nothing. Ive even completely uninstalled my firewall and still nothing.

Im really at an odds as to what to do now. any ideas?

Whats the reply when you ping other websites?

Check your IP settings and then when your happy with them check them again. On your PC and the Router. Make sure you have the masks, gateway and DNS IP correct and that you are on the same LAN ip range as your router and that its seperate from your WAN ip range (the ones digiweb gave you)

If i seem patronising, its not intended, just if a network doesn't work 99% of the time its a mistyped or forgotten IP setting.

I have a dynamic IP so all of my settings are set to detect IP and DNS automatically. I was on the phone to a digiweb support guy for around an hour the other night trying to find a solution to the problem but to no avail at all.

I cant remember the exact results of the ping nor am I near my computer at the moment to get them but they seemed pretty regular.
