At work we recently moved our email systems to Microsoft Outlook Web Access... it's great because now all email is available from anywhere online within an online version of Outlook.

However this has given me a problem. Outlook Web Access renders horribly in Firefox, and (almost) not atall in Opera. The only browser it looks good in is IE.

I hate IE with a passion, so is there any way to view the Outlook page as an IE page within Firefox? Any Firefox plugin do this? Any other ways around this problem?

NOTE: I have tried "IE View" Firefox plugin... thought it wasnt great as it simply opens the relevant page in IE.

What version of firefox, what OS?

    Have you tried Mozilla?

We have that webmail installed here, and it renders just dandy for me in both firefox 1.0.4 and mozilla 1.7.x (but I'm using linux....will check windows version and report back....) Edit: Yup...looks fine to me.

Maybe try changing your font settings.

    OS = Windows XP (SP2)
    Firefox version = 1.5 Beta 2

I havent tried this on any of my Linux stuff as yet due to a severe lack of time.

I currently dont have Mozilla installed, but will if you think thats a solution? What Mozilla version do you suggest Khannie?

I'm using the latest version of mozilla on linux (1.7.12), and I used 1.6 on windows. Maybe it's that you're using a beta version of firefox?

If you don't use linux regularly, I wouldn't bother my hole just for webmail access. I'd try a different version of firefox if you can. I'd look at my browser settings as a first port of call though.

edit: We may have different versions....our one here is:

    Microsoft® Office Outlook® Web Access
    for Exchange Server 2003

In webmail: help->outlook web access->about outlook web access

MS dont "actively" support Web Standards to which Firefox and Opera adhere to so strictly, which is why MSHTML pages will only look correct in there browser. Although Firefox will use "quirks mode" to render these bad pages also, something that I would prefer never happened as it does not give more people the incentive to create standards complient pages.

You should have never moved to a propriatry webmail system. Squirrelmail installed on the IMAP server that holds your emails would have worked better.

Lets face it, MS are only interested in developing "new" technologies that they then embed into there software exploiting their market share on Windows to get more people using it. That is why everyone seems to us IE until it dawns on them that there is more to the Internet then IE and Outlook/Outlook Express.

Squirrelmail is pants compared to Exchange Server, which, among other things, allows platform independent, integrated, company wide calendar entries. It's actually a reasonably good piece of backend software IMO.

I think that might be it. Pity it wont even think about rendering in Opera.

Agreed. I'm very impressed with Exchange Server.

Gotta agree exchange is a fairly good product, all it needs is a decent email server. Seriously if you are only using exchange as a mail server then look at Mdaemon, and it's web client LookOut

I've no problems with OWA in FireFox - and I use the View this page in IE (and view this page in FireFox) extension.

    one mo.
OK - using the FireFox user agent switcher the display is borked in IE , but it's ok in Default , Opera , Netscape
