Shower/sauna etiquette

Was swimming in the Markievicz pool this evening.

While relaxing in the sauna afterwards a few youngish lads came in and sat with the rest of us. While they were otherwise well behaved and basically sat there quietly, they spent the whole time looking around and groping themselves.

Later when I was in the shower (no cubicles in the Markievicz), they arrived in. Again, while showering (with their shorts on!), they continued to interfere with their groin areas.

I'd just like to remind the general readership that when in a public shower area and surrounded by naked men it's totally uncool, and potentially life-threatening(!), to fondle your mickey.

Now they didn't actually have their hands down their pants, but ffs guys! I've seen people do this on the street and thought it was a daft way to draw the attention of the opposite sex to their genitals, but in a mens changing room? Probably just a habit, but really really unwise!

Its a social restriction we should do away with. Everyone should be able interfere with themselves when and where they want, and if the opportunity presents itself, other people too

What were you doing looking at there groin area in the first place, the first rule of the mens changing room is never look down.

usually in stillorgan people keep their shorts on in the shower

Its worse when you are in the sauna at your gym and two blokes come in and start having conversations about their boyfriends. That situation freaked me out completely. One of them was particularly graphic about it all.

    Not cool.

Wear a towel and never look down... make a game of it

How did you just "notice" they were groping themselves down there?

You would have to be looking there in the first place...

    WTF? Wierd.

In the QUB PEC (local pool here) people generally talk in the sauna, about something trivial like how much rent costs, or the eclipse at the weekend, or whatever.
And when in the shower it would be considered normal enough to clean your groin area with soap or showergel or whatever. But its different from fondling yourself, I've never seen anyone fondling themselves in the mens rooms - but that said, the first rule is to avoid looking down unnecessarily :p

Don't you ever (or at least be tempted) to have a wee peep just to see what your size is like in comparison to everyone elses???

If a naked man is standing infront of you, you're going to take a quick glance.

Personally I stare to create extreme discomfort. Ocasionally I stand still, stare and just point.

    "LOOK!"

    Ha Ha Ha :D
I believe you more!! (I think The Dazzler's just afraid we'll all think he's a perve!)
I think everyone's curious about how we measure up against the next person, so at every opportunity we'll try to find out.

Thanks for your honesty! (Anyone else so brave???)

Flinging water around, laughing and shouting, in fact all teenagers should be banned from saunas.

    evil, evil being:D

there is the eyes above the equator unwritten rule but sometimes it happens accidentally - tbh though i'm not tempted to look, it won't be going near me in any case, though I can see how a girl might be tempted - natural selection and all that;)

You need to understand the difference between seeing (passive) and looking (active).

Maybe they were just re-arranging their family jewels. Since, in heat like that, your nuts would tend to stick to your legs. (so I've heard...)

There is a difference between 'groping' and 'rearranging'. Which one were they *really* doing?

Thats not true at all, because your togs are generally covered in water when you get in in the first place.

I hate when you get out of the swimming pool and the togs have decided to become extra close freinds with your penis.

Maybe they had a nasty case of knob rot? You should bring some information panflets with you next time and pass them out ... "So you've got knob rot"

I love that...I like to walk around a little bit so the girls will notice ;) But then maybe you're not as confident in that area as I am  But you know...what you do with it etc...

My pet peeve is pretty small tbh..I go to westwood in sandymount (anyone else go there?) and in the steam room, there is an order to things!!! There are only 3 areas where you can either sit up against the wall/lie down, and if your person #4, you have to sit in the middle of the bench, and wait for a place to free up. I hate it when someone comes in after you while your "waiting", and as soon as a space frees up, they quickly get up and grab it like a cheeky sh*t!! Grrr  Don't take my place!! I was here first!! [/rant]
    :D
