I share a pc with my dad, he's old n half blind(he denies this of course)...

Anyways, i run the display @ 1280*1024 n he runs it @ 800*600.... Is there any way of switching resolutions quicker than going into display properties... ie. a shortcut icon on the desktop r something??

9600xt... Dont want anything that hides in the tray, something that i can just double click an icon or else if i could set different users at different resolutions that would do.. My mam drives me mad as she's no idea how to change the resolution

Can't each user have their own resolution set in their profile ? If you have XP you could have the login screen where they just click on their own name/picture. It also means they could have their own desktops with just basic icons, their own homepages etc.

edit: actually I just checked that and apparantly not, funny I always thought they could
edit2: A quick google shows it did in 98 but in XP it's a system wide setting. (I'd guess Me would behave like 98 and 2k would behave like XP)

I thought different profiles could do that..

If you dont want a tray icon then im lost - just right click the desktop and go to properties - not that much hassle!

Use hot keys in ATI Control Centre (not panel)

Then he presses Ctrl ehh D for dad and it goes 800x600 then you get on and press Ctrl ehh U for unkle and it goes 1024.

    Easy :D

9600xt - if you can find a hotkey perhaps - ATi have an app in the background looking for some keys.

or a commad line option to put in a batch file on the desktop and then a hot key for that. create a short cut to the batch file - properties - shortcut key

there are probably ways to change the res from windows scripting again use a shortcut key on the script file.

    It works !!!

For ATI into display properties - settings - advanced - display
    scheme 1
    hotkey 1 (ctrl + alt + 1), apply

    change the resolution to 800*600
    scheme 2
    hotkey 2 apply

Little coloured dots on the the three keys would also help
