Ok just wondering. If your on a forum could some nutter track you to where you live and kill you?? I mean say he was a computer expert could he track your IP address to your house and try and do you in.

Its always a nagging suspicion when ever I insult somebody on a forum?

I'm doing it right now. I've hacked boards.ie to give myself temporary moderator status, so I can see your IP address. Now I have crossed that with my database on which ISPs own which addresses, and am currently breaking their account details to see your address. I'll be over to your gaff in a few. I'll be the one with the ski mask and the chainsaw.

Can't find a better one off hand..
    ip.php?text1=This%20is%20just%20a%20demo&text2=This%20text%20is%20customizable
only you can see the ip - but it's possible for the admins to look up your IP

To match an IP address to an actual address you'd really have to have access to some pretty sensitive information at that person's ISP.

First you get their IP address.
Then you use that to find out their ISP.
Then you break into the ISP, take out the logs of all connections and the times they were at.
Match up your IP and time to the one in the log.
    Find out their username.
Break into other part of the building which has account details for each username.
Using account details find their address.
Then only the simple steps of planning a murder left to do!

    Wouldnt worry about it tbh

or just post a link to your site in your sig and hope they click on it.
and wait for ET to phone home

ISP's fold to easy in this day and age, under even the slightest legal threat. It could be done as such:

    1). get your ip address
2). track ip address to isp
3). threaten isp with legal action and big complicated words like "a", "do" and "the"
4). get user details from isp
5). purchase a high powered rifle
    6). its rabbit season, go-a-huntin'

Alternatively, you can replace number 3 with "Pretend to be from IRMA".

    or replace steps 1-4 with

1). pretend to be a musician
    2). ring IMRA
    3). give them Hub's nick
3). wait for IMRA to send details to genuine.musician@eircom.net

5). purchase a high powered rifle
    6). its rabbit season, go-a-huntin'
