I'm looking for a laptop to buy. I'll mainly use it for internet, watching DVD's, Word etc... and not much gaming. It also has to have a network card built in as I want to set up a wireless network. Is this laptop suitable?

    Dell Inspiron 9300

    Thanks.

You do realise that it wont be very portable & pretty heavy..

If you're going to buy dell, wait for another double memory offer!

Would you recommend anything here then? http://www.microaid.ie/acatalog/bargains.php?cat=Notebooks
    Around the €1300 mark.

Are you bothered about battery life/ weight/ size?
Whats the min/max screen res you want?
If you dont want to game then there isnt really any point in getting a decent spec'd one! Most basic laptops can do everything you need.
Only thing I'd recommend is 1gb ram, but you can add extra yourself - it's quite simple and doesnt affect your warranty on most laptops.

Well I'd like a battery life of around 6 hours or so. Weight/size don't really matter. A screen resolution greater than 1024x768 would be nice but not vital

Very few laptops offer battery life like that! Especially the dell you named above.
You'd be looking at 3-4hours for most laptops about that price.

I'd look at the IBM range, the fujitsu siemens range & the toshiba range.

Find the one from all the various models etc that suits you best.

Here is microaids main catalogue: http://www.microaid.ie/acatalog/index.html?http%3A//www.microaid.ie/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Fujitsu_Siemens_1798.html&CatalogBody
