Deodorant spray cans - recyclable?

Are deodorant spray cans recyclable in any of the ordinary recycling tin/can bins? I have a cupboard full of used ones I need to get rid of and I don't want to chuck them in my ordinary waste bin - which is why they've been gathering in a cupboard now for nearly 2 years!

we have an aerosol disposal point at work and it pierces the can and then is but in metal disposal minus the plastic spray cap....

(personal comment: I just pierce mine at home and recycle bin it.)

I usually throw them i with the steel food cans as there is no aerosol disposal facilites at my nearest bring centre. I have a habit of also taking of the medal lids of screw top glass jars and throwing them in too.

I throw them in with the tin cans at the local Co Council recycling centre. Recycling supervisors gave me the nod when I questioned whether they should they go in or not.

To the best of knowledge once pierced they can go in with the rest of the metals. I used to have a problem getting rid of them too but I changed over to using a salt rock deodorant. You can get them in most health food stores and I think larger chemists, Crystal Rock or something. Yep I know what your thinking it will never work but it does and with the added bonus of no white marks on your clothes. Now I am a sweaty man who would normally have needed a top up half way through the day with the mainstream brands but no more. It basically deposits a layer of salt on your pits that prevents the bacteria that cause the sink from growing. Try it.

Deodorant cans CAN be recycled, just remove the plastic nozzle & put with your aluminium drink cans. I found this out from the website of a UK company that recycles old aluminium cans to new ones
