Yeah, I bought my tickets on the 31st August and they were sold out a couple of days later. Same thing happened for their previous gig before they won the Mercury Music award. I tried to get tickets that time too but I had no luck :(

its amazing what a shi*ty award can do for a crappy singer with brutal songs. this gig was on sale for ages with average ticket sales. His gig a few months before that in whelans was barely full.

When did he play Whelans? I know he played a sell out Vicar St. show before and he played the Helix with Lou Reed but I don't remember him ever playing Whelans. And this gig sold out so quickly that many ticket outlets couldn't even get tickets into stock. Hardly average sales.

Plus he's a deadly singer with really top quality songs. So in short, you're wrong.

    You're a tool.

The gig was sold out well in advance of winning the meteor awards, go check it out if you're that concerned and he sold out Vicat Street the last time not Whelans. Which was sold out as well not 'barely full', if you don't like the music fair enough, don't spout **** though.

Reasonably well know i suppose, i like Lou Reed so i'd kinda heard his name and then heard one song on a free cd, bought the album liked it and got tickets to the gig.

Best of luck with tickets if i hear of any...

I think a lot of people got into him via Lou Reed. He also got a bit of exposure as Current 93 took him under their wing and released a couple of EPs and his first album on their label. He's been just below radar basically for the last 2-3 years.
