O/T - Master Card or Visa? and Which bank?

I have every intention on getting myself a credit card this month because i want to be able to buy stuff online. So one question..... Which bank and which card?

Banks: The gray haired grandpa on the TSB "Banking Only Better" have me leaning twards them. I'm currently a member of Bank Of Ireland but i find them a bloody rip of with bank charges (Lodgements, Laser, ATM) and the rest....

Card: To be honest i have no idea what the difference is between visa and master card??? Only one i can see is the new Master Cards have a cool new shape and are see through.

SO if anyone can reccommend a bank and which card to get i'd be greatful.

Also, Say for example i went a month without using my card, how much would i stall have to pay just for having the card at the end of the month??

    Thanks Guys.

I would advise getting a card at the same place where you have a current account as

    (a) you will probably be able to monitor your transactions online
    (b) online payments will be processed faster

There are no charges on using Irish credit cards, except the €40 stamp duty (some cards will pay this for you, but only if you are spending quite a bit)

Visa is more widely excepted worldwide, but I don't think I have ever come across a place that doesn't accept both. AMEX is less accepted, especially outside the US.
