I'm buying a laptop and was thinking of purchasing from PC World. Does anyone have any opinions on them for example, What are they like to go back to if you have a problem and are their prices competitive??

Any suggestions on an all round good laptop in the price range of €1000 as well would be appreciated

    Or even Dell.

PC World are generally ok for after sales service, but a lot of the guys working there don't know one end of a computer from another.

Prices are in no way competitive, unless they are mismarked or having a clearout sale.

That would be a big, fat NO.

You typically pay a premium in the likes of PC World. Even for smaller items, you would always find things cheaper online.

Some people prefer that, though, especially if they are not used to technology and don't know what they are looking for.

being honest now, komplett are good for hardware but are useless for notepads. good site for notepads is www.lapwold.de obvioulsy its a german site, its not that hard to find ur way around. good site though.......

Dabs is pretty cheap for shipping - comparable to komplett & ive never had a problem with them!

I would never buy from PC world. They dont seem to know whats going on half the time. I know a guy who was recommended on board graphics for Half life 2, just because it had 128mb :rolleyes

Whatever you decide to buy, try to try it out in some shop before hand so you are happy with it.

I bought a mouse in PC World 'cos they gave me a 10% student discount & I didn't want to wait 3+days & pay shipping. Also I met an assistant who seemed to know what he was talking about(!).
    Other than that, avoid.
Try Dell, maybe; my friend got a decently powerful lappy for €1600 (1Gig RAM, 1.73Ghz P M, Geforce Go 6800).

Remember: shop around, take your time, and don't pay ridiculous prices for memory upgrades -- do it yourself!
