What would you recommend as the best web content filtering software available?

Am looking to change filters and need to get one that is easily configured but flexible enough to be able to handle exceptions.

DansGuardian - One of the best filters available. It runs on Linux.
You download and compile the source, then you configure it to fetch pages from a web proxy that is preferably installed on the same computer, they recommend Squid.

DansGuardian can block pages by IP, domain, URL, keywords on the page, MIME Types and Extensions. Blocking can be per IP, as are overrides.

    Censornet www.censornet.com
Download the ISO and burn an install CD, load it to an old PC and use it in bridge mode, it's Linux based and runs on a dedicated PC- it is easily configured [you dont need to be a linux head] and will run unattended without keyboard mouse or monitor, it can handle exceptions, whitelists and blacklists it has a large built-in blacklist, it can handle a large number of clients with an excellent web cache
    It's also free

If you use squid then look at www.squidguard.org

I've been meaning to try it for a while now

DansGuardian was designed as a replacement for SquidGuard. DansGuardian sits between your clients and Squid, clients connect to dansguardian which filters the request based on its rules, if it is allowed then it is forwarded to Squid which fetches the pages from the internet. Dansguardian then analyses the code on the webpage and assigns a weight to each keyword that matchs its database and when the total sum of the weights exceeds a preset value the page is blocked, otherwise it will be forwarded back to the client.

Did I mention that DansGuardian is free
