    ok, here's the situation.

my uncle in the uk's died.

i don't know him that well at all.

my mother and sister are going to funeral, and want to know if i'm going.

tbh, if it was in dublin i'd of course go, but the thing is, i've only 3 days holidays left, and i need em for plans i've made.

my question is, if you do take time off to go to a funeral, is it taken out of your holidays?

i know this prob sounds a bit calous, but i barely even know the guy, i'd just be going as a mark of respect.

Yes, it's taken out of your holidays.

Force Majeure Leave only applies in certain circumstance:
    * A child or adopted child of the employee
    * The husband/wife/partner of the employee
    * Parent or grandparent of the employee
    * Brother or sister of the employee
    * Person to whom the employee has a duty of care (i.e., they are acting in loco parentis)
That said, your employer can define extra classes of people for whom Force Majeure leave applies.

you might be able to beg for time off , but it would be up to your employer being nice .....

Why don't you just ask your employer?

i probably will, it's just that if it's in london, it could be more than one day, and that's probably taking a libirty.
