I'll be there, dragging the age curve up, helped by two mates who are even older! :D

Setlist looks good, but I think he's doing a two-set thing here with no support, one set is Holy Diver and the other is other bits and pieces. He's only doing a couple of shows like this on the tour, AFAIK. Anyone who knows better feel free to contradict.

Doug Aldritch - wasn't he playing in Whitesnake?

So, any good?? Did I miss much?

I sold my ticket & went to see Dream Theater tonight instead! Saw Dio in June anyway, so don't really mind.

One of the greatest gigs ever IMO. The old small one still has it, considering his diminutive stature he dominated that stage and nearly brought down the house with the sheer strength of his voice. I knew he was going to be good, but I wasn't expecting the show he put on. *Amazing* I nearly forgot about the band I was so amazed by Dio's voice, I figured by now it would have weakened, how old is he now? 64?

Great set, the entire "Holy Diver" album sounded great, and all the Sabbath and Rainbow classics kicked some serious ass! Great turn-out too...

All Hail the Almighty Metal God that is... Ronnie James!

Great gig. The sound was superb and the band were in top form. Holy Diver in its entirety was fantastic to hear.

That video they showed before getting into the album was just taking the piss... hilarious stuff.

Doug Aldritch - wasn't he playing in Whitesnake?
We had this debate at the gig last night and reckoned he was (we were at Whitesnake in the Olympia as well).

Great gig last night, the man still has that voice, which I have to admit was the main worry. Like Paul Rogers, though, age hasn't diminished it. Nice to hear Sign Of the Southern Cross played live.

re Alridtch, yes he was playing with Whitesnake recently. Craig Goldy dropped out a couple of weeks ago due to an arm injury apparently, so while I'm no fan of Aldritch fair balls to him for filling in on such short notice or there wouldnt have been a gig at all. Rudy Sarzo (the bass player) was also in Whitesnake for a good while too - FFS Dio if you're going to take Coverdale's knock-offs you could have done a lot better than those 2! Much fighting over the hair dryer between those lads LOL.

That aside, the gig was excellent IMO, 1st 'rocker' gig I've been to in many many years. Music was 1st class as was the amount of heavy metal cheese - as already mentioned, the video they showed was hilarious, and the posing of the band gave me a good few laughs too, especially the keyboard player, who was straight out of that Jimmy Nail film where the 70s band get back together! Heaven and Hell was a highlight for me, not a fav song of mine but it was done brilliantly, and the red light in Dio's face topped it off to perfection. Hopefully we'll get some more quality 80's metal over the next while(tho I doubt it).

And the only question I have is this - where have all the smelly rockers been hiding? There were bleedin hundreds of them there!
