ok, I know this is a public forum but ..

on hte for sale board, Mayhem# posted up about a hardware blowout. His site was posted up and all stuff has VAT and delivery charges.. which means he's a business and not just a bloke selling stuff.

Now. Keeks closed the thread because it was advertising a business. I agree with that. Nice one keeks, however, now Mayhem# is posting threads advertising individual items off his website! This can't be right.

for example, a tape backup device and recently a xircom card. He's not selling them as an individual, he's still advertising his website.

perhaps a slap on the wrist is called for? or at least an offer of advertising properly on the boards at a reasonable rate for the banner and link?

Sorry to be a git, but I just don't want to have to sift through a ton of spam posts to get to the real stuff which is what could happen if other business owners started this type of tactic as well.

Just to put things in the proper perspective:
I advertised my site, Keeks closed the thread and told me not to advertise my site. I stopped doing this, however it was not until a few minutes ago that I was told not to put anything up on the boards that I am selling as a business. Fair enough, I didn't realise this as I am not the first one to do so. Just thought people would aprciate good, cheap gear. Anyway won't happen again....

I relented because he wasnt aware of the restriction.
I've posted an announcement on the board to explain to all.

The problem isnt with selling stuff, its with the commercial element of it. Noone makes money off boards.ie (yet) so I'm damned if I'm going to run a marketing outlet for every Joe with a shop to sell stuff.

    Dev.
