    Help the aged,
One time they were just like you,
Drinking, smoking cigs and sniffing glue. Help the aged,
Don't just put them in a home,
Can't have much fun in there all on their own.

Words of wisdom from Jarvis Cocker there and Pighead wholly agrees with the skinny fellas sentiments.People who throw their folks into these institutions are meanies.Lets face it you're basically making orphans of your folks if you banish them like this.Of course there will be circumstances where the children have no choice but to send their folks away but generally this choice comes out of selfishness.

Parents sacrifice a lot while bringing us brats up.These sacrifices cannot be compensated with money.Oldies are like kids.It is up to us to keep them happy and obviously one tends to live longer when feel secured and happy.
Pighead dearly hopes that in 40 years time when my feeble mind has finally gone, my children will stumble upon this thread and think twice before they throw me into a glorified prison.Don't desert me kids.:(

Is it ok to put our folks into care? 18 votes

But Pighead, surely if you cant bathe or feed yourself, you'd rather some pretty young nurse do it for you instead of Pighead Jr...

Where's the 'Its OK in certain situations' option?

Sorry buddy but I'm not going to put the 'Its OK in certain situations' option in as I think this is the easy option to take.Sorry SofaKing but thats just the way it is and Pigheads not for changing.
As for the day Pighead can't bathe himself all i can say is i have way too much respect for the lovely nurses of Ireland and theres no way i would subject them to my stinking privates and my smelly bum bum.If i'm willing to wipe Pighead Jrs bum then the least he/she can do is return the favour.

hmmm... you bring up good points, they spent 18 years supporting us, so the least we can do is reciprocate.

What if they actually want to go into a nursing home?

I know my own mother has actually expressed a preference for this if she becomes incapable of taking care of herself.

Maybe she just doesn't want to be a burden on you? I dunno.. But then, how much do nursing homes cost...? Bleh!

Obviously (for me) if they genuinely want to go to a home, then they should be able to.

depends on each family's situation, i guess you cant stereotype, there could be any number of reasons why they should go into a nursing home or not

I checked the wrong box. Yep it’s wrong. The kids should mind the parents.

Remember the scene in the godfather when the Marlon Brando is playing with his nephew in the vineyard and has a sudden death. What a lovely way to die.

Yep, yep .The old folks should live with their family.

Theres times when 24 hour care is needed and the family just can't provide it. But putting them in a home just to save inconvenience is wrong, of course.
