Wireless Headphones

I want to get some wireless headphones. The main uses, in order, would be

    1) Playing games on my Playstation 2
    2) Watching DVDs.
    3) Listening to music

I have a Philips Surround system, but its not getting much use after 8.30pm. (when the baby goes to bed). Neither my TV or the DVD will take the digital in (sound) of the PS2.
So far, my favourites have been

    Sennheiser RS 130 http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=ELEC&title=728585&p=321&g=409&pa=sr
Have an option to turn on/off the surround sound mode. Can get for around €110 online

    Philips SBCHC8580/05 http://www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk/itfx_product_details.php?pid=3957
On special offer in your local Argos for €110.

These two are both surround sound headphones. I'm not sure how that works, but I'm guessing they require your TV or DVD to support Surround Sound in the first place? Mine do, so that should be ok.

Option B is to get headphones that will take the digital output of the PS2. That is, they come with a Dolby digital decoder.
Limited choice in this area, heres one that I found.
Rimax IF REAL 5.1 Wireless Headphones http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009GXUGQ/qid=1129802081/sr=1-17/ref=sr_1_2_17/026-2952124-1273218
About €140, and only infra red.

Thrustmaster T510 http://gear.ign.com/articles/583/583114p1.html Not wireless, but give an idea of what I'm talking about.

I've never heard of Rimax before - are they any good?

So I'm looking for advice - should I buy the surround sound phones? Or go for the decoder type?
    Thanks
    Diarmuid

    Hi Awesomo,

Was looking at these a while back myself. I didnt follow up on them but this(http://www.shopireland.ie/electronics/detail/B0000WZQDY/Sony-MDR-RF820RK-Comfort-Design-Wireless/) looks like a fairly reasonable price at shop ireland. However I dont know any specs!

Thanks. I was also looking at these mad things http://www.press.ce.philips.com/apps/c_dir/e3379701.nsf/0/09C2E280D356056EC125705B002FE917?opendocument

Philips SHG8100, which vibrate. Sounds dangerous!

I want a pair now!!!!!!!!!!! Would be ideal for my xbox/PS2/gamecube (which I have all attached to a 4 way scart adaptor - I dont get out much) and just for the 2nd Tv in general, keep herself quiet for awhile regarding noise levels.

I'd buy them if I could find a review! But there seems to be no reviews anywhere - must be new.

I have a pair of Sony wireless rf ones in work and they do get the 100m range tested all the time, cost me €60 or €70 in Argos work out really good as it's a bit dangerous for me to have wires hanging down out of me.....

Hey, I've been there as well!! Apparantly my girls don't appreciate AC/DC after 10pm although my two year old son probably wouldn't mind at all!!

As a result my wife bought me the Sennheiser RS110 last March for my birthday and I am very impressed (both with the cans and the wife!!).

Sound is excellent. I use them for listening to music, not for gaming or watching DVDs. If you are looking at the 130s, Sennheiser have a very good name so you should be ok.

Presume you know that Play don't deliver electronics to Ireland so you will have to look elsewhere.

    Happy hunting.

Thanks guys. Didn't know Play didn't deliver electronics to Ireland. God knows they've delivered enough DVDs and books to me though!
