    Hi,
I was sent a file, which I know is safe, over MSN Messenger, I went to open it from the msn messenger chat window I was sent it in and it said Windows has blocked it as it could be unsafe. It is not in my receieved files folder any more. Where is it? Is there any way to get it back? Is there any way to stop this happening in the future? I have tried firewall settings and security center but there is nothing there about it.

    Any help appreciated.:)

Most lightly the file never reached your computer due to the firewall.

Go to the security center and click on the windows firewall option at the bottom of that screen, this will open up another window and in that their is a tab called exceptions. Just add the program to that. Other way around is to just disable windows firewall altogether.

fairly sure it is just msn messenger program it usually blocks most extension types other than jpg zips etc, can take it off with apatch tho.

it definitely reached me because it was in receieved files before I opened it. MSN messenger is already in the exceptions list. There is a way around it, just save to desktop and open from desktop and not MSN window, but I'd like to know how to recover the file too:)

Yeh when you get the message that your file is finished downloading, dont click the link to open it, just browse to it's location in "MY Received Files" and it will be there, once you click the link, it deletes it
