I used to have a grat book on the Greeks which showed you how to dress up like a Greek lady, I wish I could remember what it was called.

Anyway the most authentic looking Greek style of dress (for women) has the sheet pinned at both shoulders and then gathered in at the waist with a belt which the top half slouches over. The lower half reached to at least the knees if not longer. You'll also need a pair of sandals that lace up. If you can get your hair into tendrils so much the better :) A good idea might be to Google for images on Greek pots to get some good ideas. Good Luck!

Useless fact: The pins were sometimes used by the women to stab men who made improper advances on them.

PS: For Halloween this year I'm dressing up as a Victorian prostitute, but I've not yet decided whether I'm going to be a toff's tart or a common one with blacked out teeth and pox marks.

I think it's a good idea. You can borrow one of my dresses. :)

Oooh great idea Beth!.. I dressed up as a greek goddess once for a fancy dress once!! I made a ring from a coat hanger to go around my head!!.. I got loads of ivy from my neighbour's wall and wrapped it around the ring!.. I spray painted it gold and it turned out fantastic!! I wore a white sheet all wrapped up and gold strappy sandals!.. But i got this gold shimmer dust and put it allover my body and really dramatic gold eyeshadow!!.. Everyone loved my costume!!!
