Hi, this might sounds not very clever but.. Do you get basis software’s cds like the OS, or office, etc. for free when purchasing a laptop?
    thx in advance for replying!

You get nothing for free in this life.

Software does come with laptops, but of course you have to pay for it.

Thanks for the reply. Cuz my da've just bought a Sony one for eu.1999 and beside the cheap bag, there's nothing else including. The os anbd all the softwares are preinstalled, but I thought we supposed to get some cds along with dat as well? Like when you buy a Pc.

You're given a copy of the (OEM) OS - it no longer has to be provided on CD.
It is provided in a hidden partition with the VAIO computers - and a utility is provided to burn this to DVD (Best to use DVD-R!)

ed: For your sake do make backup copies to DVD. The cost of replacing them can be close to 100 EUR for some models.

Sony laptops do tend to be that bit more expensive - you are paying dearly for style.

It is unusual you do not get any kind of recovery CD's, but then again some manufacturers put them on a hidden partition on the C:\ drive. Maybe someone here with a Sony can confirm.

Edit: Karoma got there before me.
