I switched to TCM the other night at 21.00 and was asked to enter a pin.Anybody know the reason for this? Is it something to do with parental control? I switched to it last night at 23.00 and I didn't have to enter any pin.......?

Probably to do with the rating of the film being shown at the time. The pin number thing is part of the recent software upgrade. Sky claim that they've been forced to introduce it (to protect children from unsuitable material).

You can turn off the pin requirement for most things in the services menu (the catch being that you need to know your pin to do it).

If you don't know your pin, call Sky and they'll change it for you.

There was a thread on this started less than 5 minutes before you started this one.

Neither of you have looked at previous threads for an answer.

Interesting. The same thing happened to me and I don't have any restrictions set - and neither has my iDTV had the new software yet (still on 3.2.11 - dark blue header on the EPG)

Happened to me about two weeks ago when trying to look at TCM and I rang Sky. Guy said that it was new sky policy for parental control. I said I wasn't in the least bit happy about this but that he would put me 'on a list to send to management to have this restriction removed'. Frankly I didn't believe a word but he was only the monkey not the organ grinder.

Anyway about ten minutes later, my box went back to normal. Happened again about a week ago but only for about five minutes. So I'm not sure if it testing they are doing or if it is a glitch of some kind...
