    Hi,
Just reinstalling my OS and I'm onto the media player installation part. I have a few different install shells for various media players supporting various formats (RealAlt, QuicktimeAlt, VLC Media Player, K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, Winamp and of course WMP has is already installed).

Is there a program out there or even in the above list that will do the job that all of them do seperatly, in the one media player? Don't like cluttering up my pc with un-necessary things and would prefer if there was just one program used to all file types. I also need it to play DVD's so will need the DVD encoder thingy:)

    Any feedback appreciated!

Thanks for that. I have Real Alt and QT ALT and I think they install MP Classic. Will I need to install VLC or the Klite thing after though? How about for DVD Playback, does MPClassic take care of that? Thanks:)

    http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php

    Then get codecs from http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html

and place into your codecs file.
    Not much mplayer won't play.
    No DVD menus tho.

Thanks for the help, but them links look like there is allot of seperate downloading. Is there any link I can just download MPclassic with all codecs pre installed or is there an auto updater on it that will download a codec as I need it?

Zoom Player is also rather good - doesn't play Quicktime or Real though

Windows Media Player 10 is the best by far, it plays DVD's as well. It is available for free download here (12MB):)

Which of the above links should I download MPClassic with? I'd just like to get the one program with the necessary codecs I will need. Is there an install shell that will do it the easy way for me? :o

VLC will play DVDs with menus and everything. All i've found it won't play is Quicktime and Real media. Just get RealAlt/QTalt for those, VLC will play everything else.

Oh and one great feature is it doesn't give a sh1t what region your DVDs or your DVD-ROM are :)

Well that's the combination I used before. VLC for videos that WMP didn't play, Real and QT alt for real and QT videos using MPC and then Winamp for MP3s. I'd just prefer if I didn't have to use so many programs for media. What about that klite codec package thingy?

Its exactly what it says on the tin - a pack of codecs. It'd be just like going and installing all of them yourself in the end.
Codec packs have a reputation for ****ing things up too.

The Klite mega codec pack included MediaPlayer Classic last time I downloaded it. Also included some shíte I never used.

I find that MPclassic has a problem on FFW/RWD on some files like MPEG's and AVI's. Sometimes the picture playback breaks sometimes the Lip sync goes to hell.

But Im probably using an ancient version of MPClassic at this stage....
