Very interesting especially the two points of view. I still think that at launch Nintendo are going to need a 'mario 64' game, a game that will show off the capabilities of the control system and so us why it is a revolution. Hopefully the new Mario game will do that.

i think zelda could be the one there, altough i admit i have no idea when thats expected and if its a launch title or not.

You know, I think this NEW miyomito.. (can't spell his name :( ) will most likly be the game to showe off these features. Then again, maybe it's Mario.. I mean.. he HAS been working on it an awfully long time... it better be good.. <_<

One thing - Nintendo were saying they were holding back the unvailing of the Revolution controler to ensure it wasn't ripped off by competitors.. but now they've shown their hand and it's actually Sony that's keeping (minus the 'prototype') quiet.

Anyone think they're going to release a similary innovative device and steal the thunder late in the hype-game?

Maybe unlikely, but surly a possibility .. ?

nope not a chance, sony dont think like that. they think safe and money not innovation.

you're probably right but i did read somewhere that sony had already patented something similar to the "magic wand" nintendo have for ps2 but never used it... then there's eyetoy.. fairly innovative idea...

as for nintendo "getting it". yes, they do. but look at games. we (the majority of gamers) don't flock to the interesting idea's. we flock to the tried & trusted format... fps, third-person shooter, crime sim, racing, etc.

put halo3, killzone2, half life 3, gt5, mgs4 etc. etc. next to some really cool game that uses the "wand" on the revolution. give them a similar price. will you gamble your €60 odd on the "wand" game or the fancy looking fps that adorns the cover of every gaming magazine published that month?

you'll wait for the "wand" game to go down in price. because you, the average gamer, can't afford to risk €60 on a game that might be "interesting" because you're a student who suppliments his/her gaming habbit with your weekend job.

yeah, nintendo cracked a nice little idea. but i'd be pretty sure of myself to say microsoft and sony will (again) outsell nintendo by quite some bit. maybe not in japan... but maybe the japanese "get it" more then we do

goddam sequelitis is really getting on my nerves but i can't really complain cos i know if the hypothetical wand game was metroid prime 3 i'd be going for it :D

Not sure really, im kinda in the mood for something different, altough maybe thats only a fad and after a few week i would be moaning about the fact that i no longer have halo.

That said, halo 3, just can't wait, killzone 2, sequel to possibly the worst game ever so couldn't be bothered with that but as has been mentioned. a bit crap isn't it considering we are looking at a bunch of sequels.

I don't think Nintendo are looking to deprive you of that. If you want you're Halo fix then get the 360 when it comes out in a few weeks. Or maybe wait for the PS3 if your looking for whatever it is they offer (?). Nintendo have siad before that they're not overly intereseted in compeating in that market.. but whichever one of those two consoles you go for (if you do), they're hoping you're going to want the Revolution aswell (the slightly cheaper option with large friendly letters on the front).

I for one don't feel the need for either the 360 or the PS3. I'm not that big a gamer and my PC gives me the first person shooters, gta-style and strategy games I'm after. But you can be damn sure I'll be getting the Revolution. My PC can't to that.

oh ill be getting the 360 without doubt. Not sure about the PS3, nothing on there taking my attention at the moment so don't think i will be going anywhere near it. The Rev however I think i will buy, its the one that has me captivated the most. I can really see myself playing so I think i will be getting it.

The only thing that worries me is would the novelty wear off after a while, but sure i suppose it wouldn't as long as good games came out to support it.
