    Hey,

Im trying to install phpbb forum on my site (with little luck so far). i think it may have something to do with the permission on the 'install' folder. I keep on right clicking the folder and clicking the "turn off read only button" but when i check it again it hasnt changed. Can someone let me know how to do this. Also, is this the same as setting its permission to 777?

    Cheers

777 makes the directory world writeable ie. the web server can write to the directory (folder)

I don't know about DW, but any reasonable FTP application should have CHMOD command support, which is what you need. Failing that you could ask your host to change the permissions for you.

Some hosting control panels provide for one click installation of PHPBB, have you tried that?
