Designer Clothing On E-bay

    Hi

Would i be right in saying all the designer clothing which sellers claim is "brand new with tags " , 100 per cent authentic etc is really counterfeit goods

Is there any e-bay site which anyone knows of where the designer goods on sale are in fact authentic or is the e-bay website just full of shoddy dealers

Any of the prices quoted for the goods seems too cheap to be true

Example a lacoste jumper is available for approx 40 euro, in a shop it would cost around 120 euro

am i better off sticking to the normal shop ?

cheers to anyone who can point me in the right direction

It is not correct to say that all designer clothing on ebay is fake. There may be loads of fakes and that is the risk you are taking. It will depend on whether you think spending €120 on a jumper in a shop is good value as against spending €40 on what may well be a fake or it may well the genuine article. Do you really think it costs anywhere near €120 to make that designer jumper?

well can you give me any recommendations of any e-bay sites where the product is actually real ?

i know the jumpers dont cost 120 euro to make but prefer to have the real article than a fake one

for example i bought a "brand new with tags lacoste hat " 2 weeks ago, it arrived, looked the real thing ,except the crocodile logo fell off within a week and the poor crocodile looked like he had been taken over by aliens "

dont like the fake clothing, falls apart in no time
was just looking for some helpful advice, not someone preaching from their pulpit

Well if its coming from thailand/asia you can generally consider the item to be fake (but thanks for the very genuine looking 15 euro soccer jerseys :) ). Sorry to all those genuine sellers in the far east ;) . Just check the feedback as far back as you can as u will usually see complaints if the items are fake. I've being looking myself for US sellers who send to Ireland and sell clothes at good prices but havent had any luck yet.

Even if you buy something original in the shop is gonna say maid in peru or wherever.
The point is that even if u buy a polo for 20 euro and its a fake one ,you didnt really lose much.
The prob is when u pay retails price for something that u have no guarantee of.
I bought some lacoste and RL stuff that even if its fake i'm really pleased with.

So your saying that the fakes are the exact same/ or nearly as good as the origionals? Bollax.

One reason I buy Tommy, Ralph Lauren or Polo is that the quality is excellent. Fakes will not last a 3rd as long in my experience.

i agree the fakes/close copies are not a patch on the originals,
i have an authentic lacoste jummper bought in a shop bout 3 years ago.
numerous washes and it is still as good as ever

buy a fake one, max 6 months out of it and it falls to pieces

certainly if i could get authentic gear online, would buy it like a shot
e-bay is riddled with poor fakes which look good until they arrive in your front door or have an experience with a washine machine
the crocodile on the lacoste fake would be lucky not to fall off

there are many cheap reputable online stores. I would not buy any easily fakeable products on ebay. I have Rl, hilfiger etc stuff from the states, doesnt shrink or fade and stitching is still intact. costed maybe 1.5-2 times as much as stuff from say dunnes, lasts way longer than 1.5-2 times, far better fit too. well worth getting quality stuff (at the right price)

are there any stores selling real "seconds" of decent brands? clerys used to, not sure if they do any more.

Dress-for-less.ie do quality brands such as tommy and calvin klein at resnoable prices aswell as other top brands. Although sizes are very limited especially in jean sizes if you have irregular size.Hope I am of assistance.

there is an american seller on eBay that ships to ireland and sells authentic R.L, Lacoste etc for half the price we pay here.

ive seen the clothes up close and they are perfect.

if buying off ebay just bare in mind:

*not everyone who says '100% authentic' or '100% genuine' is genuine
*the majority of stuff from asia is more then likely counterfeit.
    * check the feedback, if someone gets a fake item, they should leave feedback stating so
    * check photos of the items, photos should contain the labels or tags sometimes even receipts
    * generally stick with high feedback sellers, like Powersellers, they have alot more invested in their business and will not risk a negative f.b
    * make sure they take returns
    * make sure to pay by paypal

sadly, not everyone reads t&c's in eBay listings and then start threads sayin 'fake item bought, what do i do'

    Just posting my experience.
Bought a "100% authentic genuine, BNWT ..etc" Lacoste polo shirt from a seller in Ireland.
    Turned out to be fake.
He refunded me on return so I wasn't too much out of pocket.
I don't buy new designer clothes from ebay since.
