we got some new dell latitude D810 laptops in work today and one of our engineers was asking if they can play hi def video from them i downloaded some video from here

but when i play it back on windows media player it looks really bad, we tried both 720 and 1080 lines,

does anyone know if the hi def are suspose to work on laptops or just hi def players,

    thanks.

chances are its becuase neither of the videos match the native resolution of the TFT panel in the laptop. CRT screens can resize pixels, thats why lower res's can look much prettier on CRT's.

I just tried some of those videos on the projector.

The best way to see the quality is to match the res, but this can mean that either you wont see the full frame or it wont be full screen.

set your screen res to the TFT's native resolution. Open the file in Winamp, it will start it the file in its origianal size. Take the video window and drag it to the position that suits. Im limited to 1024x768 on the projector, so if I want to retain the quality, I need to loose some of the picture.

    The rollercoaster vid looks great!

We can play them from the RS232 port to our Pioneer plasma's he was just wondering if they would play by them selfs on the laptops.

    thanks for the answers,
