IS your college email pop3/ webmail or what?

Gmail can be viewed in outlook express, (refer to the article on POP3 in gmail's FAQ for this.

@ [DM]-TheDOC- : You're in DCU, right? Ive just managed to connect my Outlook Express to my DCU mail a/c using the following...

    stumail.dcu.ie for Incoming Mail (IMAP)

And mail.dcu.ie for Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

    And your username/passwd of course

....in Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail

Now what i can't do myself, is see how to import Address Books. Any ideas, ppl

I have got an @googlemail.com account would these instructions be the same for this as an @gmail.com account? Could this also work for a Yahoo web-mail account?

go to your google account / settings / forwarding and pop / configuration instructions / outlook express windows or mac and they have an auto config tool there .

I would suggest using Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express for one simple reason:
Outlook Express, its security issues aside, does not fully impliament IMAP so it has been known to "mess up" when accessing IMAP servers for incoming mail.
If you are using POP/POP3 for incoming mail then you should be fine with OE.

For Gmail there are instructions on there site for setting up OE to use there service, but you have to enable POP access in your Gmail settings first.

As for your college access, you will need to get the incoming and outgoing server addresses from the IT Manager/System administrator.
