There is a very good golf shop in Phibsborough - Plus 4 Golf (I think). If you go up the North Circular road - from town - and take a left at the crossroads in Phibsborough village, just drive on for another 300/400 yrds and it is on your right.

Very old shop, clubs and bags hanging from the ceiling, hundrereds of old clubs etc. all over the place.

I have had a few repairs done there in the past while. All very good - I think a basic shaft was €30 for a 3 wood and €10 to do the work (I could be wrong). They are very friendly, not always chatty, and sometimes too chatty, depend on the mood.

My only advice would be "do not look around the shop". It literally is like being a child in a sweet shop. They don't try and sell you anything, but it's very hard to control yourself - there is such a variety.....

Even if you don't get the repair done there in the end I'd recommend you give the place a visit - just as a treat to yourself...

theres a guy in blackrock ( profit golf, i think, in the yellow pages anyway) only does custom club fitting, if the driver is half decent id recomend going to see him seen as different shafts in a driver can make a huge difference to how it plays compared to the shaft in a short iron.
if you brought your old shaft and told him you wanted to hit the ball a little higher or lower or to draw/fade a little more or less hed pick you a good shaft. if you go bring the specs of your old shaft youll get them at the clubs or the shafts website and tell him honestly how you hit the old one dont tell him you hit it 300 yards straight every time.
hes a nice guy too, doesnt rip you off either

I like the sounds of a €120 Ping G2. I think I'll be in the market for a driver in the new year - let me know how it goes with your Da's mate.
