I am only getting 14kbps from my modem when connected to the internet. I know its not my pc as i have tried it in a freinds house and can get 50kbps. Is there anything eircom can do to boost the line as i suspect thats where the problem is. Also if so will they charge me and do they have to come to my house to do it.

There is nothing they can do or will do...
I used to work in the eircom net call centre and believe me, they will just fob you off if you ring them.

The speed you get depends really on where you live..

you probably just have a really bad quality cable coming into your house.

They can and will do something if there is noticeable noise on the line to the point where it affects voice calls.. just don't mention modems at all.

If you say so but I am telling you now they will just tell you they are going to look into it and then do nothing. I know from experience of working there
