Hi i am interesting in joining a local womens football team. I havent played since primary school so wouldnt be very good at all. I am more interested in the training than the matches as I am not around most weekends. Would coachs be happy with me taking part in the training but not going to matches. Also I am wondering since its more or less the end of the season does training stop now until next year.

I'd imagine most trainers, coaches, managers etc would not mind if you train whether you just love playing gaelic or want to get fit.

Some on the other hand would expect you to play some matches.I think it would be different for girls football though because naturally the boys are pushed way further to attend training and matches.

As far as training in the winter is concerned, there is training nearly every week.I can't speak for other clubs around the country but the club I play for train all year round.Whether in the gym or on the pitch. The girl next door to me plays u14 for the same club as I do and they also train during the winter.

The league starts around February and so does the cup shortly after.
It depends where you are living, what county?

I'd advise you to play matches at the weekend but there are some matches mid-week...usually Wednesday.Depends on the fixtures.

I'd a friend in Cavan who couldn't kick a ball for his life but the coach saw no problem with him training with the team doing laps etc. if he wanted to keep up his fitness.

I doubt the manager would have any problem with you not playing games. Unless you're good that is :)
