Not sure if this is the correct place to ask. Mods please move if inappropriate.

Just orderd a Panasonic AE900 LCD projector from komplett.ie for €1999 but I've just found out that the things can be had for as little as €1450 in Spain!! Now thats a bargain. So assuming I can find a Spanish online retailer that ships to Ireland would I be correct in assuming that seeing as we are both members of the EU that I would not be liable for any extra import duties or taxes. Would I be charged the Spanish or Irish Vat rate etc etc If so then I'll be cancelling my komplett.ie order asap!

There'll be no duty on electronics. They'll have to charge Irish VAT rates if they go above a certain threshold (fairly low AFAIK) of business, however at worst this'll mean you end up paying the difference in Spanish VAT (IVA I think?) and Irish, which I think would be around 2%, presuming of course that IVA is included in the price you saw quoted, it's quite a difference!

Couldn't find any spanish retailers that shipped outside of Spain and Portugal. Found some German vendors

Cheapest is €1600. But a lot of others around the €1700 mark. Even taking the extra 5% VAT I would have to pay according to John taking the price to €1750, its still some differance. Emailed Komplett to ask them if their price is negotiable otherwise I cancel the order. Awaiting their response.

Where in Spain can you get it for €1450?

Would probably still work out cheaper to just fly over to Spain and pick out the one you want and bring it back with you.

As far as I understand there will be no import duty as you are in the EU but you will have to pay the rate of VAT for Spain
