Is the sky digital service received from the hotbird 5 satellite, with the astra 2b satellite providing backup to this service?

If this is true is it possible to access other channels listed at http://www.lyngsat.com/hb5.shtml as digital clear (I presume this means no encryption)

    are you daft man?
the astra bird @ 28.2 has the best position in europe.
why would sky need a second satellite?[cus that exactly what they would need, a complete $30 mil a year satellite].

anyways, all the action will be on the 2 new astra birds that are going up[actually 1 is up with a "DSL" service available]

    modem uplink and 768kbit/sec down.
